Lucknow Central-Music takes a strange route

Freedom or Music

by Himel Choudhury

The auspicious first take. ‘Lucknow Central’ promises much.

The Premise

Release Date: 15th September, 2017.

Produced by: Emmay Entertainment.

Lucknow Central‘ is an upcoming movie directed by Ranjit Tiwari. A debutante, he has assisted Nikhil Advani for films like ‘D-Day’, ‘Hero’, ‘Katti-Batti’ and ‘Patiala House’.

Prisoner No: 1821 will break the shackles and let his voice seek out freedom

The Probable Plot

The movie is about a young lad, Kishan Mohan Girhotra (Farhan Akhtar) who wanted to pursue music as his career. He has a deep love for it but circumstances lead him to be framed in a murder case and later end up in Lucknow Central jail. The trailer reveals a lot more. The thrilling escape of Kishan with his friends, who had formed a band in the jail to perform in a competition, forms the base of the story.

The band of miscreants, trapped with the toughest of choices.

The Performers

We have always found Farhan Akhtar living his character. He always flows with it. And we know he will do justice to his role.  He himself has directed many films like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Lakshya’ and ‘Don’. And these films have an immense cult following. May be as a director, he knows what character suits him and so people have always loved his roles.

Gippy Grewal(left) and Farhan Akhtar seem to fit in with the mean background.

The movie is backed with a few more power actors like Deepak Dobriyal, Ronit Roy, Gippy Grewal, Rajesh Sharma, Inaam-ul-haq, Uday Tikekar, Sukh Kunwa and Diana Penty.

Deepak Dobriyal is yet another jewel in the industry. There is nothing left to speak about him. A complete pack of healthy entertainment, his flawless comedy has won the hearts of the people in ‘Tanu weds Manu’ and its sequel, ‘Hindi Medium’ etc. We hope his character Victor Chattopadhyay, will also engage the audience.

Yet again, we will find Ronit Roy playing his favorite role of the ‘bad cop’. 😛 . But of course he is best at it and never did injustice to it. Diana Penty is the lead female character. After ‘Cocktail’ and ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’, she is into her third feature. Let’s see if she can keep up with her co-actors.

Actor, director and singer, the pint-sized powerhouse can do it all.

The Playback

A few tracks have released, the latest being the party number, ‘Teen Kabootar’ on Independence Day. Despite being an excellent singer (Remember a certain ‘Rock On!’? ), these three numbers don’t feature Farhan’s voice. We do hope the producers are saving the best for the last. The character itself is of an aspiring singer. It would be a crime not to include his tracks. ‘Kaavaan Kaavaan’ has made the people realize that some of the yesteryear melodies will be in the playlist for this movie.

The Presumption

The trailer has been out for promotion and the crew is doing their best to reach out to people. Something new is on the horizon. We don’t expect it to be a copy of prison-break classics like ‘The Shawshank Redemption’. The concept is inspired from true events, and we think it will be worth a watch. Let’s watch out the trailer again. Mark your calendars for September 15th.
